BambooLite started a pioneer project to work with Stay-Alone-GrandMa (SAGM) making some of our products. We realized that there are many grandmothers who live alone in villages or small towns when their children have to work in other states due to limited opportunities in their hometowns and their grandchildren will get better educational development in larger towns or cities. This is one of the challenges in the progress of a society. We initiated this project to assist these SAGMs financially besides creating meaningful activities for them to contribute to our society and the environment. We are also raising the environmental awareness to the community.
Project SAGM is BambooLite's local community project. Our GrandMas join our project on a voluntary basis. No contracts or binding agreements. We allow much flexibility on their activities because we want our products to be made with passion, not sweat. They work on their own time. Please do allow some waiting time if sometimes you find our products made by them are out of stock. Our GrandMas receive respectable wages for their efforts.
We provide some simple to make products which our GrandMas are comfortable to work with. Current products made locally by our SAGMs are:

- Raw Silk Liner
We source and import organic and eco-friendly fabric from China. The fabric is made from certified organic cotton and bamboo yarn that meets Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 requirement. We also import 100% natural raw silk fabric from Australia. We then transport these fabrics to a small town in the state of Perak where our GrandMas currently stay. These fabrics are then cut and sewn into Organic Essentials and Raw Silk Liners by our caring GrandMas. They are not professional nor very experienced seamstresses. Variations in size and sewing are expected. Some products may have light coloured mark which can easily be washed away. The marks are from sewing pencil(non-toxic), used by our GrandMas as guide. Once completed, we transport the products back to Penang for quality assurance and packaging.

Whatever small earning that we receive will go towards BambooLite periodically contribution to those in needs and also be used to improve the operation of the project for the benefit of our SAGMs.
